All About the Role

As Store / Café Manager, you are the heartbeat of the café. You lead from the floor, set the standard for service, and create a positive, high-performing team culture. You are responsible for delivering an outstanding guest experience while ensuring the café operates efficiently, safely and profitably. This role is equal parts people leader, service champion and operational expert.

In practice, and day to day, the key responsibilities could be best outlined as the following:

• Ensure each customer's journey with us is one to remember, for all the right reasons.
• Uphold the quality and consistency standards that define Black Star Pastry.
• Oversee the operation of the store, ensuring its smooth and harmonious existence.
• Oversee activities such as rostering, ordering, team management, and store maintenance.

*This role is initially for a fixed-term period, covering for parental leave, with an intended end of fixed term in March 2027.

The following will also ensure you have the lived experiences to drive real impact:

• Possess 2-3 years of  hospitality experience, honing your skills as a leader in a cafe, bar or retail environment.
• Demonstrate an attitude of authenticity and positivity, proven to drive team outcomes
• Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement and learning.
• Lead by example, sharing your knowledge and experiences with fellow team members, coaching them in areas of weakness.
• Exhibit a passion for ensuring customer delight and upholding our product quality.
• Proven experience using effective conflict resolution skills helping you adequately problem solve.
• Show initiative and an unparalleled aptitude for teamwork.
• A deep love for cake would be the cherry on top!
