About the Role

As our Store Manager, you’ll inspire and lead passionate teams, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and keep the heartbeat of our stores running smoothly.

We are offering full-time roles of 38 hours per week amongst a flexible roster, supporting a strong work-life balance. 

So what is it that we need you to do in these roles?

⭐ Store Managers

As the leaders of our Black Star Pastry stores, our Store Managers:

• Lead the Crew – Inspire, coach, and support the team to deliver magical customer experiences.
• Keep the Stars Shining – Ensure the store looks beautiful, well-stocked, and sparkling clean.
• Master the Flow – Oversee daily operations so everything runs smoother than a chocolate glaze.
• Numbers with Flavour – Manage budgets, rosters, and targets (without losing sight of the fun).
• Cake Ambassadors – Champion the Black Star brand and create a welcoming vibe for every guest.

🌟 Supervisors

Our Supervisors play a key role in supporting the Store Manager and leading the team day-to-day. They:

• Run shifts with confidence, ensuring smooth service and happy customers.

• Support and develop team members through training and guidance.

• Uphold quality and safety standards across food, service, and store presentation.

• Keep the workflow moving, managing pace and energy on the floor.

• Deliver great customer service that reflects the Black Star experience.

About You
Candidates should demonstrate the following to ensure the greatest opportunity for achieving success:

• Leadership experience, ideally with 1-3 years’ leading and motivating a team in a fast-paced retail or hospitality environment 
• Operational expertise with a strong understanding f daily store operations, rostering practices, inventory management and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
• Customer service excellence with a track record of delivering outstanding gest experiences that foster a positive store culture
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated capability to multi-task – your organisational skills will be a strength
• Positive team player with strong communication skills
• Authentic and down to earth with a genuine love of people
• Holds a valid Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain one)
• Bonus: A love of cake 🍰

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across New South Wales.

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
